CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Scientific subcommittee of the Local Organizing Committee of the NTS Conference 2025 calls for the submission of abstracts for presentation at the hybrid conference. We welcome abstracts of observational studies (case reports, case series, cross-sectional, cohort studies, quality improvement studies), experimental studies (clinical trials), evidence syntheses (narrative/scoping reviews, systematic reviews or meta-analysis), quality improvement/implementation studies, animal/basic medical studies etc. on the theme and sub-theme of the conference, as well as general themes related directly or indirectly to adult and paediatric pulmonary disease, health or practice in Nigeria and Africa.

There will be awards to the best abstracts in the junior, middle and senior categories. Residents and other junior faculty are particularly encouraged to submit abstracts of their concluded/ongoing research projects. 

ABSTRACTS GUIDELINES

Authors should follow the guidelines below during the preparation and submission of their abstracts:

PREPARATION GUIDELINES

  • Abstracts must be typed on a Microsoft Word document in British English with Times New Roman point 12, double-spaced with 2.5 cm margins 

  • Abstracts must be original- abstracts presented or submitted at other meetings should not be submitted.

  • Abstracts should be structured to include the title, authors' names and affiliations, corresponding author’s email, cadre and qualification, introduction, aims/objectives, methods, results, conclusion, references and keywords in this order (for case reports/series- introduction, case & conclusion). Underline the presenting author in the list of the authors and state the cadre and affiliation of the presenting author if different from the corresponding author.

  • Abstracts should not exceed 300 words (introduction, aims/objectives, methods, results and conclusion)

  • It is the responsibility of authors to ensure that their submissions are free from grammatical and spelling errors, as well as research misconduct such as plagiarism. Abstracts with significant concerns will be returned for reworking or may be outrightly rejected.

  • Deadline for abstract submission is 10 October 2025, 23:59 WAT

  • There is no restriction to the number of abstracts that may be submitted by any author

  • Accepted and presented abstracts will be published in the conference’s BOOK OF ABSTRACTS and subsequently as a supplement in the Society’s peer-reviewed Nigerian Journal of Chest Disease (http://nigerianthoracicsociety.org/journal/), with copyrights transferred to the publisher- Nigerian Thoracic Society.
